THE young children of a father charged with murdering told police "daddy kept poking mummy with a big and sharp knife" after they saw him stab his wife and teenage daughter to death, a court heard.

Marcin Zdun, 40, faces two counts of murder following the death of his wife Aneta, 40, and daughter Nikoleta, 18, at their home in Wessex Road, Salisbury on June 1.

Children could also be heard screaming "daddy, I don’t want mummy to die" during the 'horrific' attack by Zdun, it was heard.

Jurors have been told Zdun, described as a "psycho" husband, cut the throats of his 40-year-old wife Aneta and their 18-year-old daughter Nikoleta in a jealous rage.

The 40-year-old Tesco worker didn't like how close his carer wife and student daughter were, had been kicked out of the family home and wrongly suspected Aneta of cheating on him.

Jurors were told Zdun left his wife and daughter with unsurvivable injuries.

Neighbours, having heard screaming, rushed to house and witnessed Zdun slit their throats and jurors were shown footage from a neighbour's doorbell video system which was recording during the attack on June 1.

In the footage, a child can be heard screaming "daddy, I don’t want mummy to die" and a man, thought to be a neighbour or workman, said "she’s dying, she’s dying" and "get the bloke".

Polish Zdun, who had been drinking, denies two counts of murder but admits killing the pair, claiming he has "no recollection" of the incident and killed them by way of diminished responsibility as he is mentally impaired.

Winchester Crown Court heard the married couple's young children - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - made a series of comments about the attack to police and a foster parent.

One said: " My Dad called my sister and my mum into the bathroom and then started poking their necks… Dad pushed them into a bathtub and they were bleeding."

Prosecutor Nicholas Haggan QC said neighbours and workmen rushed to help as they heard screams.

He said: "Gary Davis saw [the young children] by the wire mesh fence, screaming for help.

"A woman appeared - it's likely this was Aneta - covered in blood from the neck down. Another woman, of course this would be Nikoleta, appeared and Mr Davis recollects her chest covered in blood.”

The prosecutor described how the defendant cut one woman’s throat and stabbing the younger girl before he then attempted to cut her throat, before inflicting further injuries to the older woman.

"The workmen chased [Zdun] and eventually he was brought down by Bolaji Olatunde and then held to the ground until the police arrived."

One neighbour, Jeffrey Dray, walked into the house while on the phone to 999 and saw bloodstains across the bathroom.

The trial continues.
