WILTSHIRE Council says "no decision" has been made on the funding of the complementary measures for People Friendly Salisbury.

It comes after the chief executive officer of the Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership, Paddy Bradley - who are contributing £1.3m - told the Journal that the funds had been reallocated following the indefinite suspension of the scheme.

Paddy Bradley said: "The money had to be spent by March 2021, and as Wiltshire Council said the scheme would be 'indefinitely suspended', the SWLEP board had to take a view on what to do with the money.

"We took the view that this meant the scheme would not be returning before March, and therefore the money needed to be reallocated."

But councillor Phillip Whitehead, leader of Wiltshire Decision, says no decision has been made.

He said: "It was agreed that the funding for the project was under review and that the board would revisit the allocation of funding in December. However, this discussion will now take place in January.”

He added that the discussion regarding the allocation of funding was held as part of a private session in November, which is why it did not appear in the draft minutes on the SWLEP website.

He added: "“I have not kept anything from Salisbury City Council as no decision on the funding of complementary measures for People Friendly Salisbury was made at the November or December meeting of the SWLEP Board.

"A decision on whether to fund the scheme will be taken by the board in January."
