In Dorset, between Christmas Day and Monday, January 11, rubbish and recycling collections will be on a different day of the week than usual.

Revised dates for rubbish, recycling and food waste collections

  • There will be no change for collections on Thursday, December 24 Friday
  • December 25 collections will now take place on Monday, December 28 
  • December 28 collections will be on Tuesday, December 29
  • Tuesday, December 29 collections will now be on Wednesday, December 30
  • Wednesday, December 30 collections will take place on Thursday, December 31
  • Thursday, December 31 collections will move to Saturday, January 2
  • Friday, January 1 collections will be on Monday, January 4
  • Monday, January 4 collections will move to Tuesday, January 5
  • Tuesday, January 5 collections will be on Wednesday, January 6
  • Wednesday, January 6 collections will now be on Thursday, January 7
  • Thursday, January 7 collections will be on Friday, January 8
  • Friday, January 8 collections will be on Saturday, January 9
  • There will be no change for collections due to take place on Monday, January 11

What to do with extra rubbish and recycling

Dorset Council says it will collect up to two extra sacks of rubbish beside your bin on your first rubbish collection after Christmas Day.

Extra recycling if placed in your own boxes, with glass kept separate will also be collected.

Garden waste collections

No garden waste collections will take place from Christmas Day until Friday, January 8.

Household recycling centres

Household recycling centres are open from 10am to 4pm daily, except on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
