CORONAVIRUS cases are on the rise in the Fordingbridge, Rockbourne and Woodgreen area as well as in the Ringwood area, according to the latest government data.

The data has come from a map on the government coronavirus dashboard, which is based on Public Health England figures from the week ending on December 29.

  • Fordingbridge, Rockbourne and Woodgreen: 36 cases in total - an increase of 21, rolling rate 334.5.
  • Ringwood North and Ibsley: 26 cases in total - up by 21. Rolling rate 362.6.
  • Ringwood South: Total cases 16 - up from 11. The rolling rate is 197.6.
  • Bransgore and Burley: Total cases 14 - up by two. Rolling rate 201.1

The New Forest has now been put under Tier 4 restrictions.

Most of Dorset is now in Tier 3 except for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, which are in Tier 4.

According the coronavirus map, Verwood East has been classed as a hotspot and put in the above average category for cases as has West Moors.

  • Verwood East: Total cases 31 - an increase of 21. The rolling average is 404.0
  • West Verwood: Total of 25 cases but a zero per cent rise in cases. The rolling rate is 324.3.
  • West Moors: 36 cases in total - an increase of 28. The rolling rate is 472.3.
  • Alderholt and Sixpenny Handley: 15 cases in total - an increase of four, rolling rate is 230.0.
  • St Leonards: Total 15 - up by four. Rolling rate 204.0.
