The coronavirus case rate for a Salisbury ward has soared to more than 900 per 100,000, after 63 infections were recorded in the latest weekly period available.

According to Public Health England figures relating to the week ending on January 4, Bemerton has an infection rate of 924.7 - the highest in the Wiltshire Council area.

The highest rate bracket on the map on the government coronavirus dashboard, which breaks down infections by small areas in England with an average population of 7,200, is 800 or above.

In Salisbury, two areas fall within that bracket.

They are Salisbury Cathedral & Harnham and Bemerton.

It brings the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 10,080.
