The number of coronavirus deaths at Salisbury District Hospital has now surpassed 100, it has been confirmed.

Two patients passed away having tested positive for Covid, bringing the hospital's death toll since the pandemic began to 101.

The news comes amid an "ever-increasing" rise in admissions caused by the virus, which has forced staff to make changes to the hospital and cancel a number of operations.

As of 8.15am today (January 13), there are 130 in patients who have tested positive for Covid.

A spokesperson from Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said: "Sadly, we can confirm that another two patients who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital have died.

"A woman in her eighties died on January 11.

"A man in his seventies, with underlying health conditions, died on January 12.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the patients’ families and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time.

"The total number of patients that have died at Salisbury District Hospital after receiving a COVID-19 positive test result is now 101."
