UNEVEN road surfaces in a Dorset town centre will be repaired next week.

Dorset Council staff will repair the road surface in Shaftesbury High Street, starting on Tuesday, January 19.

Dorset Highways will repair two areas of block-paving across the road at the High Street junction with Mustons Lane, and at the Salisbury Street junction with the High Street.

Uneven areas of block paving will be lifted out, the foundations reconstructed, and the bricks cleaned off and relaid anew.

In order for the roadworks to be carried out safely, B3091 High Street will be closed each weekday from 9am to 4pm from Tuesday, January 19, to Friday, January 22. There will be no access for delivery vehicles during these times.

The road will be open as usual during the evenings and at weekends.

Later this month in Shaftesbury, the B3091 from Gold Hill on High Street to the junction for the medical centre on Salisbury Street will be resurfaced overnight.

Coppice Street will also be resurfaced from High Street to the football club.

For the surfacing to take place, the roads will be closed from 7pm to 6am between Monday, January 25, and Friday, January, 29.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys and follow the local diversion routes signposted around the closures.
