HERE are the latest Covid-19 figures on the total number of positive cases and deaths in Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire.
These are the Public Health England figures published at 4pm today (Sunday, January 17)
Positive cases in upper tier local authority areas
- Wiltshire: 12,082 (an increase of 147 compared to yesterday's figure of 11,935)
- Swindon: 8,480 (an increase of 55 compared to 8,425 recorded yesterday)
- Hampshire: 47,363 (an increase of 722 compared to 46,641 yesterday)
- Southampton:10,156
- Portsmouth: 10,722
- Dorset: 7,842 (an increase of 174 from 7,668)
- Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole 18,123 (an increase of 398 from 17,725)
Lower tier local authority:
- New Forest: 4,478 (an increase of 76 compared to 4,402 yesterday)
Deaths
The total number of deaths since the start of the pandemic of people whose death certificate mentioned Covid-19 as one of the causes:
Upper tier local authorities:
- Wiltshire 474
- Swindon 207
- Hampshire 1,381
- Southampton 191
- Portsmouth171
- Dorset 239
- Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole 338
National figures
Nationally, there have been 38,598 new cases according to the daily update - bringing the total to 3,395, 959 - and 671 deaths within two days of a positive test reported in the UK as of 4pm today (Sunday, January 17). The total number of deaths within 28 days of positive test now stands at 89,261.
The number of virus tests carried out is 695,148 - an increase of 22.8 per cent comparing the last seven days. A total to 60,242,686 tests have been carried out.
And as of 4pm today, 3,857,266 people have received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccination.

On Sunday 17 January 2021, 38,598 new cases and 671 deaths within 28 days of a positive test were reported across the UK.
A total of 3,857,266 people have now received the first dose of a #vaccine.
