A fire involving an oil tank broke out this morning (January 18) in Codford, prompting a major operation involving several fire crews.

Emergency services were called out to Chitterne Road at 10.59am following reports of a blaze involving an oil tank which had spread to the adjacent house.

A spokesperson from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that at the height of the incident crews from Warminster, Wilton, Salisbury, Westbury, Mere and Tisbury attended, together with an aerial ladder platform and supporting appliance from Bath.

Firefighters from Warminster, Wilton and Bath remained at the scene until 2.42pm to put out the fire.

No-one has been injured in the blaze but severe damage has been caused to the property.

The fire service has confirmed that the blaze started accidentally.
