FIREFIGHTERS are reminding people to clean their chimneys regularly after a blaze at a home in a Dorset village.
One crew from Sturminster Newton was called to a chimney fire at a property in Iwerne Minster, at around 5.30pm on Saturday afternoon, January 16.
The fire was extinguished using one chimney kit and one thermal imagining camera.
A spokesperson for Sturminster Newton Fire Station said: "A clean chimney can help prevent fires and structural damage to your property.
"Regular cleaning of your chimney or flue will eliminate the build-up of soot and clear obstructions such as bird or animal nests, leaves and debris.
"It is not enough to use a vacuum cleaner and you should make sure that your chimney or flue is inspected regularly."
