A FIGHT outside a pub, possible smells of cannabis, “rude” children playing in the street, damage to vehicles and tools being stolen from work vans have been some of the incidents reported to police in Fordingbridge over the last three months.

The number of reports to police dropped in November during the second national lockdown.

But in December, the figures went up again, with 75 incidents reported to police - only 31 of those were “recordable as crimes”.

In November there were 55 incidents reported to police, with 21 recordable as crimes. In October, there were 84 incidents reported to police, 38 were recordable as crimes.

Anti-social behaviour

In the latest police reports given to Fordingbridge Town Council, from the December figures, there were ten incidents of anti-social behaviour including reports of a loud vehicle linked to local food delivery, one report of a possible smell of cannabis in a school playground coming from a local residence, youths on school grounds out of hours, a report of rude children playing in the street, glass being smashed in the street and three reports of people going into the marquees in the surgery car park.

This was a increase from November where there were only four, which included reports of a firework being thrown, “unwanted” youths on school grounds.

In October, ten incidents of antisocial behaviour were reported - two of motorbikes and quadbikes on a byway, one relating to use of a toy BB gun, another of “Nottingham Knockers”, drinking and rowdy behaviour and one of customers refusing to wear a mask and four were “personal related”.

Violence

Eight incidents of violence were reported. One, the report says, was within a residential care home between patients. One was of a historical report of assault, another of a person being pushed by an unknown male. Four were domestic related.

This was again up from November where there were three incidents - two relating to assaults on police officers while the other was domestic related.

In October, violence against the person was seven - two were connected to the same incident of a fight outside a local pub, one of a fight between known persons, one relating to a neighbour dispute and three were domestic related.

Burglaries

There were no dwelling burglaries but there were three burglaries of outbuildings where items were taken.

In November, there were also no dwelling burglaries but two business burglaries involving a small amount of cash being stolen from a village post office and an attempted break-in at a fishery. Other types of burglaries were three break-ins to outbuildings with tools taken.

Figures for October show there were two dwelling burglaries where cash and jewellery were stolen from a property while the residents were on holiday and the other a key was removed from a key safe and the property entered but nothing was taken.

Five business burglaries were also reported - three were break-ins to building sites where tools were taken, another was tools being taken from local school garages and a break-in to a service station.

Damage

Incidents of damage (three) reported in December included one of damage to a parked vehicle, another of a stone being thrown through a window and a historical report relating to a neighbour dispute.

There was only one incident of damage reported in November which was to items on school grounds.

In October, five incidents of damage were reported - two of which were to parked cars, another of a rear house window being damaged, one of a fire alarm being broken at a half-way house and one incident of windows being damaged during an argument.

Thefts

There was one theft where a bag and keys were taken from a place of work in December.

But there were three thefts from vehicles - two where tools were reported stolen from works vans while the other was domestic related.

In November there was one vehicle theft where a small van was taken.

In October, two thefts were reported including an armoured cable being taken from a field. There were also two thefts of vehicles where an old van was taken from an industrial site and a report of an off-road bike being taken from a driveway.
