The Wiltshire areas, excluding Swindon, with the lowest infection rates of coronavirus have been revealed.

The overall rate for the Wiltshire Council area continues to remain high, the county's public health director warned earlier this week, though cases have stopped rising.

According to a map on the government coronavirus dashboard, Salisbury and south Wiltshire continue to have higher rates than the rest of the county while areas in the northern and western parts of Wiltshire have considerably lower numbers.

The interactive tool breaks down infections in England into small areas with a population of around 7,200 called Super Middle Output Areas (MSOAs).

For each MSOA, the map shows the number of cases in the past week, increases or decreases compared to the week before and the rate of cases per 100,000 people.

Theses are the 10 places in the Wiltshire Council area with the lowest rates based on figures from Public Health England from the week ending on January 16:

  • Winsley, Westwood & Holt (fewer than 3 infections - data is suppressed to protect the privacy of individuals)
  • Ramsbury, Ogbournes & Avebury (8 cases; -5 on previous week; rolling rate of 92.7)
  • Pewsey & Lockeridge (7 cases; -3 on previous week; rolling rate of 100.2)
  • Derry Hill & Hilmarton (8 cases; -20 on previous week; rolling rate of 107.3)
