A 106-YEAR-OLD from Salisbury says she feels "lucky" to have received her Covid vaccine at the city's iconic cathedral.

Anne Baker MBE, a former flower arranger at the cathedral, was given the first dose of her Covid vaccination on Saturday (January 23).

"We drove down to the outside and the cathedral was all lit up an absolutely gorgeous golden colour.

"I had not been down for a long time; it was thrilling to see it looking so lovely," she said.

"We went across to the door and were ushered into the Cloisters.

"The Cloisters were looking beautiful still with all the Christmas decorations up and everything.

"We stood in the queue rather distant from the other people, then finally we went right into the cathedral.

"It was all arranged most beautifully for everybody to be seen."

Anne said she enjoyed taking in the lovely sights inside the cathedral including the nativity photographic tableau and felt "very spoilt" as beautiful organ music filled the historic space.

"We had a very happy time in the cathedral," she added.

She feels "very lucky" to have been able to have her vaccination there and "really enjoyed" the experience.

She said the people there were also "very kind".

"It was a lovely experience especially as I haven't been to the cathedral for some time.

"It was just a great treat," said Anne.

Anne also urged others not to worry about the experience of receiving the vaccine itself.

She said: "It didn't hurt at all, it was just a tiny little prick.

"My arm was perfectly all right afterwards.

"We just felt very, very spoilt."

In the Queen's New Year's Honours Anne was awarded an MBE in recognition of her fundraising to support the NSPCC.
