A NEW nursery is set to open in Okeford Fitzpaine, on the site of the existing primary school.

The new nursery will cater for children from four months to four-years-old and will be based at the primary school, “benefitting from the use of the extensive school grounds as well as a dedicated nursery space within the school”.

Nursery provider Sunbeams Day Care, based in Poole, will run the nursery. As well as caring for younger children, the nursery will also provide wrap-around care for pupils at the primary school, and a holiday club for local children.

Headteacher Annie Dowling said she was “delighted” that Sunbeams Day Care had chosen to open the nursery.

She said: “It is wonderful that we can share our beautiful grounds with pre-school children and their older siblings.

“This will be a fabulous facility for families in Okeford Fitzpaine as well as further afield, and will no doubt be of huge benefit to our working parents who need childcare both before and after school, as well as during the school holidays.

“I am really looking forward to welcoming the Sunbeams team and working in future partnership.”

Sunbeams managing director, Kirsty Lester, said: “We are very excited to be working with such a lovely school and despite these uncertain times we cannot wait to be involved in something new and positive for families within the community of Okeford Fitzpaine.”

The nursery is expected to open later this year.
