A TEENAGE girl has tragically died in a crash with a garden wall and tree last night.

The 18-year-old, who was a passenger, was travelling with three others in a silver Ford Fiesta along The Mead in Westbury towards the roundabout with the A350.

At around 11.40pm, the car lost control and collided with a garden wall and tree after coming off the road.

The local teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 19-year-old man, was seriously injured and rushed to Southmead Hospital.

He is still in hospital.

The two other passengers had significant injuries and one, an 18-year-old woman, was taken to Southmead while the other, a 17-year-old girl, was transported to Royal United Hospitals in Bath.

Wiltshire police has now launched an investigation into the crash after shutting the road for hours and reopening it before 10am today.

Insp Andrew Lemon said: "This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the girl's family and friends at this extremely difficult time.

"I ask that their privacy is respected and our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is ongoing."
