FOREST Forge Theatre Company in Ringwood looks set to receive a boost thanks to a grant of £29,000.
The theatre’s CEO and creative producer, Sharon Lawless, says the money from New Forest District Council will help it continue its work and carry out “critical repairs” to the the theatre building.
She said: “We are delighted and so grateful to receive the extremely welcome grant of £29k from New Forest District Council, especially at this particularly dreadful time.
“Forest Forge Theatre is the only self-producing theatre in the New Forest. This grant helps us continue to deliver our performances and carry out critical repairs to our theatre building in Ringwood. We believe this is a true acknowledgement that NFDC sees Forest Forge Theatre’s work as vital to the communities of the New Forest.”
The theatre has adapted during the pandemic - delivering activities including workshops online. It is also planning an outdoor festival later in the year.
The grant awards will be included in the district council’s proposed budget for 2021/22, which is subject to agreement at a meeting on February 25.
