The coronavirus-related death toll at Salisbury District Hospital has reached 189 after a further death was confirmed.

A hospital spokesman said a man in his 70s, with underlying health conditions, had become the latest person to die after catching the disease.

It comes as the pressure of the virus begins to ease at the Odstock Road site.

But the hospital's chief executive warned this week it was not out of the woods yet - while answering questions from the Journal.

On Friday (February 12), the hospital had announced it had gone three days without any deaths related to Covid-19.
