Parts of Salisbury city centre recorded a small rise in infections in the past week, official figures reveal.

In the latest weekly period, the week to February 21, areas such as Bemerton, Harnham and Chuchfields had a number of Covid cases higher than the week before.

The rise is small and comes amid a general drop in coronavirus cases in the city and across Wiltshire.

However, in parts of the city, the increase has driven rates up to just over 100 per 100,000.

The figures are shown on a map on the Government coronavirus dashboard, which breaks down infections in England into small areas with a population of around 7,200 called Super Middle Output Areas (MSOAs).

For each MSOA, the map shows the number of cases in the past week, increases or decreases compared to the week before and the rate of cases per 100,000 people.

The areas that recorded small increases are:

  • Salisbury Town North & Milford (10 cases; +4 on previous week, rolling rate of 163.7)
  • Salisbury Churchfields (7 cases; +2 on previous week; rolling rate of 103.8)
  • Salisbury Cathedral & Harnham (5 cases; +3 on previous week; rolling rate of 100.2)
  • Salisbury Stratford (5 cases; +3 on previous week; rolling rate of 85.2)
  • Laverstock, Bodenham & Coombe Bissett (6 cases; +1 on previous week, rolling rate of 66.1)
  • Salisbury Bemerton (4 cases; +2 on previous week; rolling rate of 58.7)
