FOUR homes could be built on a Portland plot – instead of the two originally agreed.

Developers say four, smaller, homes on the site west of Branscombe Close would be a more efficient use of the site.

The site has already been cleared following the granting of the earlier permission for two larger homes in December 2019. A new application to Dorset Council says the original consent, with the homes sitting centrally, would have resulted in large amounts of awkward and redundant space.

It says the new scheme, for four 2-bed homes has been designed to “respect the general style of the area and are suitably set back from the road. This enables each house to have off street parking in similar fashion to that of nearby properties whilst maintaining an “open-plan” feel to the area.”

Access to the site will be from Rip Croft as proposed in the previously approved application.
