A CAT was left needing veterinary treatment after it was hit with a pellet, which is believed to have been fired from a slingshot.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.05pm on Tuesday (March 2) from a cat owner on Holly Grove in Verwood who reported that their pet had returned home on Monday night with an injury to its shoulder.

It was taken to the vets on Tuesday and a vet removed a small pellet from the shoulder, which is believed to have come from a slingshot or similar device.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said that the cat is expected to make a full recovery and anyone with information about the incident is urged to come forward
