Two memorial trees in Queen Elizabeth Gardens have been snapped by vandals.

Former leader of Salisbury City Council, Cllr Jeremy Nettle, spotted the damaged trees on his daily walk yesterday (March 17).

He said: "Sadly on my daily exercise I came across these two lovely memorial trees that have been vandalised, [it's] so sad both for the families and users of Queen Elizabeth Gardens.

"The Parks department work tirelessly on all our parks to ensure our residents and visitors enjoy them, so it's always devastating to see this wilful damage."

Salisbury Journal:

Cllr Nettle says the council will do "all it can" to replace the trees.

In the meantime, he's asking anyone who witnesses acts of vandalism to report them either via the MyWiltsapp or by call the City Council on 01722 342860.

"My thoughts go out to all families that choose to have a tree planted in memory of a loved one and then see this kind of behaviour and lack of respect," he added.
