MORE than 90,000 under 55s have been given the coronavirus jab in the Wiltshire CCG area since the rollout began, according to new figures.

Statistics issued by the NHS show 93,303 jabs have been administered to people under 55-years-old across the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire area.

The numbers cover the period from December 8, 2020, up until Sunday, March 14.

The amount of under 55s to be given their second dose of the game-changing jab totals 3,549.

This comes as health secretary Matt Hancock told MPs the vaccine supply in April will be "tighter" when there are around 12 million second doses that need to be delivered to the public.

He said: "In the last week, we've had a batch of 1.7 million doses delayed because of the need to retest its stability [...] and we have a delay in a scheduled arrival from the Serum Institute of India."

It is believed the delayed supply from the Serum Institute - amid claims of a block on exports by India's government - totals five million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

According to data up to March 14, 32,753 first doses were given to people aged 55 to 59-years-old in the Wiltshire CCG area, while 47,837 jabs went to those between 60 and 64.

A cumulative total of 368,376 jabs were rolled out up to March 14.

Meanwhile, in Hampshire a total of 768,611 jabs were rolled out to the public, according to new data.

In Dorset, 370,398 vaccines were administered to patients.
