RESIDENTS can help shape a plan for the future of Ringwood.

Ringwood Town Council is moving forward with a neighbourhood plan and has set up a steering group.

The plan will set out how development should happen in future years and will be used to inform local planning decisions. It can also set out land use for facilities, infrastructure, housing and employment.

A spokesperson for the neighbourhood plan steering group said: “Developing a neighbourhood plan is about all of us, the people of Ringwood, having a say in the development of our town. So we need people to join in and give their views.”

Currently four teams are forming to look at different aspects of the plan:

  • Town centre
  • Design and heritage
  • Environment
  • Housing

A neighbourhood plan is designed to allow communities to shape the development of their local area. A referendum of residents then decides whether it is adopted.

Anyone wishing to get involved with the neighbourhood plan or find out more contact deputy town clerk, Jo Hurd, at the town council by emailing Neighbourhood.Plan@ringwood.gov.uk.
