TAKE a closer look inside the new independent-living apartments, cottages and houses in Salisbury.

The homes, which are part of Platinum Skies development just off Wilton Road, will be available to view and purchase during an open week next month.

The public can take a closer look at the shared-ownerships homes available in the Chapters independent-living village off Wilton Road during a special event taking place from Monday, May 3 to Sunday, May 9.

Enhanced Covid-safe measures will be in place for the benefit of visitors and the Platinum Skies team and places must be booked in advance.

Chapters features a host of one, two and three-bedroom purpose-built apartments, as well as two and three-bedroom detached and semi-detached new build houses and restored Victorian cottages, which are available to people aged 55 and over.

Visitors will also have the first opportunity to find out more and reserve an apartment off-plan in the new phase of the Chapters independent-living village, Nightingale Square.

The new site was named after the former Nightingale ward in the Old Manor Hospital, which Florence Nightingale, commonly known as the founder of modern nursing, had links with.

The Nightingale Square site was formerly home to the hospital’s laundry building, which has been brought down and replaced with a purpose-built apartment complex offering 51 homes with balconies, parking and an outside communal courtyard.

All of the homes in Chapters have underfloor heating throughout, easy-to-use kitchens with energy-saving appliances, bedrooms with generous storage space, and bathrooms with step-free showers and automatic lighting.

Prices at Chapters start from £120,000 for an apartment and from £252,500 for a cottage or house, based on the buyer paying 50 per cent of the property’s full market value.

The homes at Chapters are made affordable as part of a government-backed shared ownership scheme delivered in partnership with Homes England.

Mike Lyons, the operations director of Platinum Skies, said: “As the government lockdown restrictions ease, we have a long list of people looking to move into a home at Chapters. They have told us that they have been stuck in their family home which is now more than they can need and they are looking to take the next step towards a more independent, financially-secure future. The Platinum Skies team are specialists at enabling people aged 55 and over to live happy, active and healthy lives in a friendly community where they can feel supported by their neighbours.”

There are also a range of communal facilities including a bistro, bar area, and residents’ lounges.

Residents can also take part in a range of classes in the activity room and enjoy some pampering in the treatment room.

All Platinum Skies homes have a dedicated onsite community manager.
