SOME of the cases heard at Salisbury Magistrates' Court:

DAVID APPLEBY, aged 28, of Larkhill Road, Durrington, pleaded guilty to a string of offences involving a motorcycle. On May 1 last year Appleby was riding a Kawasaki ZX600 along Salisbury Road in Amesbury under the influence of drugs - delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the main ingredient of cannabis, and benzoylecgonine, the main metabolite of cocaine, were detected in his blood. He did not have the appropriate licence or policy of insurance to ride the motorcycle. The bike was also not roadworthy and considered in a dangerous condition. The defendant was fined £200 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 12 months.

DANIEL HOCKLEY, aged 36, of Church Street, Mere, pleaded guilty to driving a Citroen Berlingo along the B3092 outside Hill Brush Factory in Mere exceeding the speed of 40mph, subject to a local traffic order, and driving without the appropriate policy of insurance. Both offences were reported on May 31 last year. Hockley was fined £120 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85. His driving record was endorsed with six points.

STUART MAYES, aged 53, of Earls Court Road, Amesbury, indicated a plea of guilty to intentionally causing another person harassment, alarm or distress through racially aggravated behaviour in Amesbury on May 30 last year. He intentionally damaged a car windscreen wiper belonging to the victim, to the value of £118. Mayes was ordered to pay compensation of £298 and he must attend appointments and activities as instructed by an officer.

NICHOLAS JAMES BATT, aged 38, of Lovett Green, Salisbury, pleaded guilty to driving while exceeding the legal alcohol limit. On August 30 last year Batt was driving a BMW along the A36 in Salisbury with 41 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. He was fined £120 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 12 months.

Heard by Swindon Magistrates’:

PAUL SIMON CHRISTIAN, aged 48, of Iles Court, Goatacre, pleaded guilty to stealing £27 worth of goods from Spar in Salisbury on February 16. He indicated a plea of guilty to assaulting a police officer, also in Salisbury on February 16. Christian was committed to prison for 12 weeks and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £128.
