A MAN has been jailed for 15 weeks after a crime spree last year, including stealing more than £100 worth of alcohol and exposing his genitals in a public place.

Gavin Closier, alias Gavin Disson, of Barnard Street in Salisbury, was also responsible for behaviour that had been likely to cause others harassment or distress.

Heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court, Closier pleaded guilty to stealing a number of items from shops in Tisbury and Salisbury between August and September 2020.

The court heard that the 42-year-old stole alcohol from Westacre Service Station in Salisbury on September 14, 18, 19 and 20, and from Tisbury Co-op on August 15.

In total he had stolen £124 worth of alcohol during this time.

On August 28 the defendant stole a jacket from Mountain Warehouse in Salisbury to the value of £30, and on the same day he intentionally caused another person to feel either harassed, alarmed or distressed through his behaviour.

Closier also pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive behaviour in Salisbury on October 11 and November 6, and indicated a plea of guilty to exposing his genitals in a public place also on November 6.

As well as the 15-week prison sentence, ordered by Magistrates on February 18, Closier must pay compensation of £124.

The sentence was aggravated by the defendant's record of previous offending.
