A WOMAN was arrested this afternoon on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a child and assaulting an emergency worker. 

Police were called at 2.30pm today (April 10) to Elizabeth Gardens, Salisbury,  following a report of a concern for safety of two young children and their mother.

Officers arrived and a 27-year-old local woman was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a child, a public order offence and assaulting an emergency worker.

She is currently in custody at Melksham Police Station. 

The children are being looked after by a relative.
