STAYCATIONS are now back on the table as people across Wiltshire enjoy their newfound freedoms while England eases out of lockdown.
From Monday, April 12, overnight stays away from home were given the green light under Boris Johnson's roadmap out lockdown.
The rules stress people who are staying in self-contained accommodation must not share bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens or entrances to the building with another household in a bid to stop coronavirus spreading.
The roadmap also states until May 17 at the earliest, international travel is banned, meaning more people have been searching for the perfect UK getaway.
But, what if you want to stay closer to home and cut out the hours of driving across the country, while still getting away from your usual surroundings?
The Journal has taken a look at four Airbnbs that are a stone's throw away from Salisbury and this is what we've found.
1 - Four-bedroom country house, Amesbury
For travellers who are looking to splash the cash, this could be the ideal staycation for you.
The impressive country house in Amesbury is located on a private estate and boasts a heated 18-metre outdoor swimming pool.
The pool is open from April 15 to October 1 from 9.30am to 6.30pm.
If you fancy a game of tennis, the Airbnb features a court that is open all year.
2 - The Carriage House, Clarendon
This Airbnb property is a newly converted cottage that is split into two interconnecting, but self-contained parts.
Guests can enjoy two double bedrooms, one bathroom, a separate shower wet room and a kitchen.
It is located within a 14-acre plot and is just a few minutes walk away from Alderbury village, which has two pubs including the Green Dragon.
This pub was visited by Charles Dickens and is mentioned in his novel 'The Life and Adventures of Martin Chuzzlewit'.
3 - Barn apartment in the Chalke Valley
This contemporary apartment is nestled in Bishopstone.
The hand-crafted English oak barn includes a Hypnos bed and reading area with views over the landscape.
There is parking available next to the barn and a small balcony with seating that is "perfect for morning tea or evening drinks", according to the owner.
4 - The Hay Store, Kennel Farm Cottages
This barn was converted in 2017 and is ideal for two people looking to escape to the countryside.
The Hay Store features one kingsize bedroom, which can be split into two twins, and comes equipped with a small kitchen - ideal for those who want to whip up their own meals.
There is plenty of parking and guests can walk on the farmland, which boasts views of Salisbury Cathedral, according to the owner's page.
