FIREFIGHTERS got up close with a python during a call-out to a fire in Sixpenny Handley.
A fire crew from Verwood and Blandford were called at around 5.10pm yesterday (April 17) and dealt with a fire involving carpet used with a vivarium for tortoises.
A post on the Verwood Fire Station Facebook page said: "On arrival we found a small fire involving some carpet used in the base of a vivarium for a couple of tortoises."
The small fire was extinguished using a hose reel jet.
The firefighters at the scene also got to meet a python.
The tortoises were okay following the incident, the fire station said on Facebook.
