A MAN has been arrested after a police chase through the city.

On Wednesday, April 15, at around 1pm, officers attempted to stop a male who was "acting suspiciously", and driving a black Vauxhall Corsa.

They were forced to pursue him through the streets of Salisbury when he drove off.

The pursuit began on Western Way then moved onto Castle Street, into Millstream Approach, through the Central Car Park, onto Fisherton Street.

It then continued onto Churchfields Industrial Estate, then Devizes Road, into New Zealand Avenue and around Bemerton Heath before stopping near to St Michael's Road.

A 23-year-old Salisbury man was then arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.

He has been released under investigation.

Det Con Cerys Powell said: "We are appealing for witnesses to this incident and are asking anyone who may have dash cam footage of the pursuit or pedestrians/by-standers who may have filmed part of it on their phones to come forward."
