SOME of the cases heard at Salisbury Magistrates':

SIMON JAMES DOWNS, aged 36, of Albion Bungalows, Quidhampton, was found guilty of assaulting another person by beating in Wilton on July 22, 2019. On the same day Downs drove a Vauxhall Van along Wishford Road without due care and attention, involving a collision with a cyclist. He was fined a total of £519 and was ordered to pay compensation of £450 and costs of £310. His driving record was endorsed with five points.

MARK SCOTT, aged 47, of no fixed abode, was found guilty of using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour towards another, with intent to cause them harassment, alarm or distress, in Salisbury on February 5 last year. He was fined £120 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34. The defendant’s time spent in custody was considered time served for the offence.

CHRISTOPHER DEAN ARNOLD, aged 36, of Carmelite Way, Salisbury, indicated a plea of guilty to possessing 28 grams of cannabis on March 1 last year. He pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath during a driving offence investigation. Arnold was fined a total of £642 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £39 and costs of £85. He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for 14 months.

Heard at Swindon Magistrates’:

ANTHONY FRANCIS MCDONAGH, aged 27, of Lavender Place, Ilford, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Vavaro along Castle Road in Salisbury without due care and attention on September 20, 2019. He was fined £40 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £110. His driving record was endorsed with four points.

CALLUM JAMES LUCAS, aged 22, of King Street, Gillingham, was found guilty of intentionally travelling on a Great Western Railway train without paying the £80 train fare, on November 21 last year. Lucas was fined £440 and was ordered to pay compensation of £80.70, a victim surcharge of £44 and costs of £180.

DECLAN JOSEPH HAYDEN, aged 54, of Pond Place, Kensington and Chelsea, pleaded guilty to intentionally using threatening, disorderly or abusive behaviour towards another person while in Salisbury on August 27 last year. Hayden was fined £80 and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £85.
