A SECTION of road in North Gorley is to be closed for 15 weeks.

The closure of a 180m section of Ringwood Road (from Holly House to Popes Lane) is due to start from May 10 for extensive drainage improvement works to be carried out.

A Hampshire County Council spokesperson said: "Contractors will be working on site Monday to Friday between 7:30am and 6pm, but a full road closure will be in operation for 24 hours a day, due to the depth and position of the new drainage.

"This work is part of our Operation Resilience programme to make Hampshire’s roads more resilient to the effects of extreme weather, and this scheme is to help prevent highway flooding.

"Residents and businesses have been sent a letter about the closure and access arrangements.

"The above timescales are weather dependent; any significant changes to the scheduled dates will be made clear on the yellow sign boards. A signed diversion route of about 6km will be in place."
