ONE of England’s Women’s Six Nations stars will be attending a special event to promote rugby.

Saracens, England international, and former Ellingham & Ringwood player Poppy Cleall, described by England women’s coach Simon Middleton as one of the best players in the world, will be part of an event organised by Ellingham and Ringwood Rugby Club, aimed at giving women and girls an opportunity to try rugby.

It is part of the Rugby Football Union’s “Inner Warrior” programme.

The event is open to any girls or women whether they have never played before, fancy trying something new and making new friends or are returning to rugby after a break from the game.

Cleall will be attending and be joined by Saracens and Canada international Mackenzie Carson.

Poppy has recently been described by England women’s coach Simon Middleton as one of the best players in the world. This week Poppy has featured in an article in the Guardian which highlighted that four players in this year’s Women’s Six Nations played for Ellingham & Ringwood’s girl’s teams, which Poppy said: “Isn’t bad for a little club in the New Forest”.

The four players are Poppy and Bryony Cleall (England) Lisa Cockburn (Scotland) and Donna Rose (Wales).

The event takes place on Sunday, May 16, and is from 1pm to 3pm.
