An innovative new trail has started in Chippenham with ten images of artworks from Chippenham Museum’s latest exhibition amongst the trees in John Coles and Monkton Park.

The trail takes place during National Walking Month, a campaign celebrating walking as a way of helping the environment while improving wellbeing.

Head of Heritage and Museum Services, Melissa Barnett, said “The museum has a prominent collection of modern art, donated by the artists themselves, as a record of local creativity.

"We hope through this trail the community can take a minute to relax and consider each piece while enjoying Chippenham Town Council’s beautiful green spaces.”

Walkers can also scan a QR code at each point for an interactive map with additional information about the artists and trees.

The artworks feature in Chippenham Museum’s latest exhibition Spotlight On.

Open May 17 – 19 June 19, the exhibition celebrates North Wiltshire’s creativity with 40 artworks from the museum’s modern and contemporary art collection.

The banners have been sponsored by The Kington Langley Arts Society, enabling greater access to art in the community.

The society’s Vice Chair Heather Leach said, “We are proud to sponsor the banners for Chippenham Museum’s Art Outdoors project so that this wonderful collection is more widely experienced.

"The Arts Society Kington Langley believes that the arts have the potential to enrich peoples' lives and this is at the heart of everything we do.

"Our members support a variety of Arts Volunteering projects in our local community and we know that access to art can change lives.”

Chippenham Museum is a free entry Town Council facility.
