AN ABANDONED caravan was destroyed after a fire in West Dean at the weekend.

The incident was reported to Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) at around 8.30pm on Saturday (May 8).

Two fire crews from Salisbury attended the scene on Grimstead Road.

The fire service said the incident involved an abandoned caravan which was "destroyed".

A DWFRS spokesperson said: "We were called to Grimstead Road, West Dean at 8.33pm on Saturday for a fire involving an abandoned caravan.

"Two crews from Salisbury attended and used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, which destroyed the caravan and an area of land/bushes of approximately 5m by 5m. The stop was at 8.55pm. Because it was of doubtful origin, the police were informed."
