A 22-YEAR-OLD was arrested and more than £10,000 worth of cannabis was seized, following a drugs warrant in Cholderton.

Police officers executed the warrant in the village last month, and after a single property search the large quantity of cannabis was seized, believed to have a street value of around £15,000.

Various mobile phones and an iPad were also seized.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis, and has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

PC Juliet Cox, from the Amesbury area community policing team, hopes the warrant and arrest will demonstrate the "proactive work" of the police.

She said: “We know that our communities are concerned about drug dealing and we hope that this shows how seriously we take the matter.

“While some people may not believe cannabis to be a harmful drug, it is an illegal drug and can often act as a gateway drug drawing young or vulnerable people into further addiction.

“There is also the associated anti-social behaviour, nuisance and violence that comes with any kind of drugs activity, which we need to tackle."

PC Cox added: “We would encourage anyone with information about drug dealing in their local area, to call the police.”
