WORK to improve Avonway Community Centre in Fordingbridge has started.
The scaffolding is up and a team have started taking down the redundant chimneys before work starts on the roof.
In late 2019, an appeal was launched to raise around £70,000 for vital roof repairs at the centre in Shaftesbury Street.
Since then there have been donations from the community as well as grants from Fordingbridge Town Council, New Forest District Council, and local councillors.
It is hoped the work to repair the roof can start in July.
