A MAN was arrested after an assault and robbery in Salisbury, leaving one man with injuries above his right eye and jaw.

A second victim was grabbed and held while demands for money were made.

Following these two offences, which police believe to be linked, the force is now looking for more detail and witnesses.

On May 16, between 2pm and 3.30pm, the first incident occurred behind Salisbury Library, by the river, where the male victim is said to have been assaulted, suffering the facial injuries.

The second incident is believed to have happened between 3.10pm and 3.20pm adjacent to the library steps.

The suspect reportedly approached a different male and cornered him between the metal gate and wall at the entrance to Market Walk.

The victim could not escape and was grabbed and held by the suspect while demands for money were made.

The suspect is described as a white man with grey hair, wearing a dark jacket with the hood up and blue jeans.

A man in his 40s was arrested and has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Wiltshire Police says at the time of both incidents, it is understood there were many people walking by who may have seen or heard what happened.
