FIFTY two drivers were caught travelling over the 40mph speed limit on a New Forest road in just over an hour.

Hampshire Constabulary and New Forest Roads Awareness conducted speed patrols on the B3079, Roger Penny Way yesterday (Friday, May 28).

New Forest Roads Awareness, on its Facebook page, said the highest speed recorded was 58mph.

The post added: "Please remember that the stallions are about and ponies are running across the roads.

"Give yourself extra time to travel, so you are not having to rush."

And a post on the New Forest Cops Facebook page urged drivers to slow down.

The post said: "Another really busy hour spent on Roger Penny Way with the New Forest Roads Awareness team this morning. Please slow down."
