HALFWAY through another warm, sunny weekend, if you're in Salisbury city centre today make sure to not miss out on some of the finest cafes and stores for an ice cream or sweet treat.

Here are just some of the places in the heart of the city that can sort out a sweet tooth, praised by their visitors on Trip Advisor.

Wafflemeister

Waffles, crepes and shakes - there are lots of goodies on offer at one of the newest eateries in Salisbury.

Wafflemeister arrived along the High Street in 2019, with waffles ranging from signature liège to sweet American.

On Trip Advisor one visitor posted in December last year: "Really delicious waffles and crepes. The kids absolutely love it at wafflemeister. Staff are always friendly and welcoming."

Last month another commented: "Got a delivery and it was absolutely fantastic! Delicious and well worth the price.

"Fresh fruit, Warm waffles, well presented! Will definitely be ordering again."

Sprinkles Gelato

Sprinkles Gelato has been serving gelato, handmade desserts and hot drinks since 2012, when it was started by two brothers in Southampton.

The chain later expanded to Salisbury's New Canal, offering a sweet pudding for every craving.

Despite a mix of reviews on Trip Advisor, one glowing comment said: "Upon arrival in the UK we where told not to come here due to local family who had a bad experience.

"My husband and I believe that you should always give a place a second chance.. We were visiting from South Africa and I can truly say that this is an amazing place for great waffles and brilliant gelato.

"[The waffles] were absolutely beautiful - loved the fact that they were fresh, crispy while being soft and fluffy on the inside. The flavor was spectacular.

"We will definitely be back on our next visit to the UK."

Bakeries

If you want a cake or pastry to go, Salisbury is filled with bakeries and tea rooms that are ready and waiting to offer you the perfect sugary sensation.

Reeve the Baker, Greggs, Henderson's Artisan Bakery, Greengages and The Yard are just some of the perfect spots to enjoy a cake (or two) in the sun.

Independent business Henderson's has been praised no end on Trip Advisor also for its coffee and savoury dishes, with one comment reading: "Friendly staff, lovely rich coffee and from a previous occasion beautiful quiche."

Shakeaway

More than 180 individual flavours, all made by hand to order, and popular smoothies made with real fresh fruit, are just some of the sweet drinks available at Salisbury's favourite milkshake parlour.

A liquid dessert, Shakeaway can whizz any treat into a milkshake for the ultimate pudding or snack.

The outlet along Silver Street was praised on Trip Advisor for its "great service with some proper banging tunes in the background".

Another visitor said: "Consistently good milkshakes! Always stop by to get something for my little one, she absolutely loves it."

Maul's Wine & Cheese bar

A dessert replacement, cheese and wine is a sophisticated pick-me-up that can be enjoyed at Salisbury's boutique cheese and wine bar.

From rosemary garlic goat's cheese to soft brie, of course coupled with one of the 41 glasses of wine and fizz on offer, this is a perfect savoury alternative to the traditional pudding.

Set up by husband and wife Andy and Ellen Maul, the special cheese slates are accompanied with bread, crackers, pickles, chutney and seasonal garnish.

Written this week, one trip advisor review said: "You must visit Maul's. We visited for a late evening 'snack' of wine, cheese and meats. What a great idea for a restaurant!

"The wine was devine, the cheeses were lovely and the staff were superb. We sat outside as inside was full but we're coming back to book inside and for a longer visit. Definitely go here."
