A CAR was badly damaged after its engine compartment caught fire earlier near the Arts Centre.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to Bedwin Street at 3.22pm today for a fire in the engine compartment of a car which was partly on the carriageway.
One crew from Salisbury attended and two breathing apparatus wearers used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, which badly damaged the vehicle.
