As restrictions begin to ease, Salisbury is preparing to welcome residents and visitors back into the city centre with the launch of a new event, Salisbury Street Sellers, starting on Sunday June 13.
This new initiative will be a celebration of traditional English crafts, products and produce from a range of independent sellers.
From handmade jewellery and original art to local food specialities and artisan gifts, Salisbury Street Sellers is designed to support local makers and traders and celebrate the city.
There is still a chance to get involved for established traders or those who have a small home business or a hobby making craft items. Prices start at £10 per pitch.
Salisbury Street Sellers will take place every second Sunday of the month until October 10 in the Market Place.
Lauren Morgan, Flower Grower and Botanical Designer from The Fox and Dingo, said: “I am delighted to be involved in this exciting new initiative for Salisbury. Street Sellers will be a celebration of independent local producers and makers and we are really looking forward to seeing the buzz of activity on Market Square.”
To celebrate the launch, there will be a chance to meet the Mad Hatter and Alice in Wonderland herself who will be doing some storytelling and picture taking throughout the day.
There will also be live music and attractions such as the colouring wall or a chance to play Flamingo Croquet.
A wide range of food and drink, from contemporary street food and artisan coffee baristas, will be on offer.
Salisbury City Council says customer safety and social distancing will be taken “very seriously”.
“We want residents and visitors to feel safe and reassured when shopping in the city, whilst also welcoming them back, so they’ll be confident coming again,” a spokesperson said.
