The broadcasting legend commentated his first grand prix race at Silverstone in 1949 and became a full-time commentator in 1978.

His voice provided the backing track to some of F1's most iconic moments, from James Hunt's 1976 championship win over Niki Lauda, to Nigel Mansell's 1992 title triumph.

Go! Go! Go! Celebrating the life of Murray Walker OBE tribute event is being presented by The GT Organisation in association with PlateShield and the Historic Sports Car Club, and will be hosted by former Grand Prix driver, racer and TV presenter Tiff Needell.

During the evening there will be an opportunity to admire a selection of racing machines representing Murray’s career in the Wheelspinners Paddocks and also watch demonstration drives, before joining a Racing Revellers Reception, followed by a three-course dinner.

Some of Murray’s friends and colleagues take centre stage, sharing the memories that made this unique character so special to them. Guests will be invited to share their memories and put questions to the distinguished panel.

The National Motor Museum is a fitting location for this special event, in light of Murray Walker’s life-long support of the museum. His father, broadcaster and motorcycle racer Graham Walker, was the first curator of the motorcycle collection at Beaulieu.

The annual Graham Walker Memorial Run for vintage motorcycles will be taking place the following day, on Sunday, August 15.
