COUNTER services at a main city bank are reported to end later this year.

HSBC, on Minster Street, Salisbury will stop providing the service in October 2021, a councillor has revealed, but cashiers will still be on hand in the branch to help customers use the digital services.

It means the nearest HSBC branch with a counter service will be on Ringwood High Street.

Salisbury City and Wiltshire Councillor Paul Sample wrote on Facebook: "As the local Councillor for the area, I am disappointed by the further reductions in the quality of banking services in the City. This move will affect the most vulnerable, elderly, customers in Salisbury."

HSBC has been contacted for comment.
