Two vehicles parked in a Salisbury residential street have been damaged by 'mindless' acts of vandalism.

Police received two reports of criminal damage to vehicles in Fairfield Road, which were scratched overnight between Wednesday and Thursday (July 1).

Danielle Robinson, 46, discovered her car had been damaged on Thursday, while at the supermarket with her mum.

She said that she suspects a young person was responsible, as the scratches appear to be characters from Japanese video game Sonic the Hedgehog.

After reporting the damage to Wiltshire Police, she was told another incident had been reported in Fairfield Road.

Danielle said: "It wasn't a very pleasant experience. I have lived here for two years now. My husband and 22-year-old son also park their cars in the same road and we have never had any problems.

"We live on Castle Road and don't have any roadside parking on our street and it's the only place we can park. We do not have any choice.

"It's mindless. Why would someone think to do that?"

Danielle adds that the scratches are deep and she is not sure she can afford to rectify it: "These people do not realise the damage they have caused me.

"The scratches went right through the metal and I have to look at getting that fixed, but I'm not sure I can afford it.

"I work hard to own and look after my car."

Wiltshire Police are appealing for anyone with any information to get in touch.

A spokesperson said: “We have received reports of criminal damage where two vehicles parked in Fairfield Road, Salisbury, were scratched.

“Both incidents happened overnight between June 30 and July 1.

“At this stage, we believe the two incidents are linked and we would ask anyone with information to call us on 101, quoting crime reference 54210063512.”
