There has been an increase of 359 Covid cases in Wiltshire in the last reported week.

In the week to July 3, the latest weekly period available, a total of 823 cases were recorded in the Wiltshire Council area, an increase of 359 more than the previous week.

The rate of new cases is now 164.6 per 100,000.

However, Wiltshire has only recorded no deaths where Covid is listed on the death certificate as a cause of death since May 21, according to data from the Government's coronavirus dashboard.

The website reports a slight increase in hospitalisations in the area.

Between June 28 and July 4, four people went into hospital with coronavirus in Wiltshire.

Of these, three were in hospital on July 6, and two coronavirus patients in hospital beds were on ventilators to help them breathe.

The week before, between June 21 and June 27, one person went into one of the Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust hospitals with coronavirus, but as of June 29, there were no hospital patients in Wiltshire with the virus, and so none on a ventilator.

This comes as Boris Johnson has announced plans for so-called "freedom day" on July 19, saying that the country must “begin to learn to live with this virus”.

The area figures are available on a map on the Government's dashboard which breaks down infections into Middle Super Output Areas (MSOAs), small areas with an average population of around 7,200.

For each MSOA, the map shows the number of cases in the latest weekly period, any change compared to the week before and the case rate per 100,000 people.

Below are the areas that reported fewer than 8 cases in the seven days to July 3:

  • Potterne & Rowde (7 cases, +5 on previous week; case rate of 82.7)
  • Downton & Morgan's Vale (7 cases, +1 on previous week; case rate of 87.2)
