A ‘CHARMING’ home in Dorset could be yours for less than £200,000 when it goes under the hammer.

The two-bedroom property, based on Dinah’s Hollow, Melbury Abbas near Shaftesbury, has been put up for auction with a guide price of £180,000 by Whoobid.

Whoobid say the detached property is ‘a charming cottage in need of some updating with scope to extend’ set within a rural hamlet.

The property’s brochure notes that the cottage can be modernised and expanded by a new buyer, subject to planning permission from Dorset Council.

The character cottage, which has off-road parking, is accessed via a footpath and driveway.

The ground floor contains an entrance hall, living and dining room with an open fireplace, kitchen with a range of base and wall-mounted storage units, and access to a rear garden. The kitchen leads to a rear porch which houses the oil-fired boiler.

Leading up the stairs to the first floor are its two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Around the property is its garden, which is ‘surrounded by mature planting’ which ‘gently slopes down to a stream at the bottom of the garden.’

Outside there is an outbuilding that has a toilet and a Belfast sink with space for conversion into a possible utility space.

The detached garage, which was used as a workshop, offers more storage to the occupants.

The property will be sold through a modern auction, which means that upon the acceptance of an offer or at the close of the auction, the successful buyer must place a non refundable reservation fee to the agents to reserve the property.

The auction will start at 2pm on Thursday, July 29, but the vendors will consider bids before the auction.
