THREE cyclists were taken to hospital, one with life threatening injuries, and a driver was arrested following a crash in Mere.

At around 11am yesterday, July 23, Wiltshire Police officers were called to the collision along the B3095 at Mere Down, involving a car and the three cyclists.

One of the cyclists suffered potentially life-threatening injuries and the two other cyclists received significant injuries.

All were taken to hospital to be treated and the road was closed for around nine hours.

The driver of the car, a 25-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury while driving dangerously and drink driving.

He has since been released under investigation and police enquiries are ongoing.
