Danny Kruger MP has visited the site of Devizes Health Centre, near Marshall Road, last week.

The new build will be one of the first integrated care centres in the region and will be home to several different health and care providers.

Mr Kruger said: "For years, people have been campaigning for a new urgent care centre in Devizes, to replace the hospital which is closing down. After successive photocalls by successive MPs with successive Health Secretaries in the field near Green Lane where the centre is planned, I am delighted to say that this week I was able to visit a building site, not a field.

"I am so pleased that work has commenced and I look forward to seeing the health centre begin to take shape at last."

The Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are working with NHS Property Services to carry out the build.

The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald:

As well as replacing the existing services at Devizes Community Hospital, the new facility will give local GPs additional clinical space needed for everyday care, and also the room to provide a number of enhanced services including phlebotomy, physiotherapy, audiology, podiatry, diabetes and mental health services, enabling excellent patient care for the community.

Dr Andrew Girdher, Clinical Chair of the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire CCG added: “I very much look forward to the opening of the new Devizes Health Centre in 2022, and offer my thanks to all who have been involved in getting this project moving during what has been a very challenging period for the NHS.”
