A MAN in his 40s is the latest patient to die at Salisbury District Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.

The hospital says the patient, who had no underlying health conditions, died on Wednesday (July 28).

This now brings the total number of deaths to 217.

A spokesperson for the hospital said: "Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 died on Wednesday 28th July. The patient was in his 40s and did not have any underlying health conditions.

"217 patients in total have now passed away.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time.

"There are currently 8 COVID-19 positive patients being treated at the hospital.

"We would urge everyone to continue to take precautions to minimise the spread of the virus"
